Minecraft Tip #27 (222/365)

Hello everyone,

Today I’m going to show you guys the easiest way to install your texture packs to customize the feel of your Minecraft. Texture packs are nice ways to fix certain textures that you may not like in Vanilla Minecraft, (ahem Armor), and customize them to your liking. They also allow you to set up a certain theme, such as medieval theme, or renaissance, or even modern. Another additional aspect, is that certain texture packs have much better quality than the default 16x such as 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x and lastly 512x. This means that on the 64x texture pack, not only do you have 4 times the pixels of default Minecraft, you will probably have a lot less fps. Depending on your system that is. Anyway, let’s get to installing Texture Packs. To start off, open up the main Minecraft menu.

Like so.

Clicking on the “Texture Packs” option will open up an additional menu that lists which texture pack you are using currently, and which ones are available.

As you can see, I have the SMP Revival texture pack selected, with the only other texture pack being the default. Next up you will want to open up the texture pack folder by clicking the “Open texture pack folder” option above. This opens up a new window, which you can then drag any .zip texture pack file you may have downloaded from the internet.

And you are done! You now have a texture pack which you can then select and enjoy. As a side note, any texture packs more than 16x require either McPatcher or Optifine. Also, 16x texture packs may have custom water, or lava, which will also require McPatcher or Optifine. I will include the links below.

I hope you enjoyed! Happy Mining!
