You remember these guys?
I’m sure you do. These little green devils are responsible for nearly 90% of all explosions in Minecraftia each day. They like to creep on you, and once they get close enough, well…you know the rest of the story.
Preventing these explosions is crucial to preserve your home, as well as your life. There are two ways you can do this:
If you run, you have a higher likelihood of success, but you will be branded as as a coward across the land, and the Creepers will have won. You don’t want that do you?
That’s what I thought, so the only other choice is to fight. Here is a tip on how you can do that, and win.
If you get too close to a Creeper, he will blow up after about 3 seconds, so you can’t just walk up to him and kill him. There are two ways that work quite well.
The first is that you can kill the Creeper from afar using a bow and arrows. It will take 3-4 arrows to take him down (provided the bow is not enchanted) and if you are far enough away, there is no chance he will blow up before you kill him. This is the safest way to kill a Creeper, but it isn’t always the easiest. You may not have a bow or any arrows, so you may have to rely on a sword.
If you’re going to fight a Creeper with a sword, here is what you should do.
First of all there are 5 swords, here are the number of hits it would take to kill a Creeper, without enchantments:
- Wood- 5 hits
- Gold- 5 hits
- Stone- 4 hits
- Iron- 4 hits
- Diamond- 3 hits
As I said before, running at the Creeper head on is suicide. You could maybe succeed with a Diamond sword, but that’s still difficult. So, here is what you do. As the Creeper is walking towards you, sprint at it, hit it, and back up immediately. Basically, you just need to hit him once and back up enough so he doesn’t explode. Depending on your sword, you’ll have to do this 1-3 times. On the 2nd-4th time, sprint at him and hit him twice. This should have killed him.
You can opt out of hitting him twice on the last attack if you aren’t confident in your abilities, but that is what you should do, and you should succeed. There is a last case resort however.
If by some horrible luck you do not have a sword or a bow, and you don’t want him blowing up your house, then lead him into the water. Once he’s in the water, just let him explode. Since he is in water, he won’t cause any damage to the surrounding area. He will still damage you though, which is why you should only do this if you have good armor or if you are far enough away.
I hope this tip was helpful, and I hope that you go off into the world and kill tons of Creepers…let’s face it, they deserve it.

Just one more announcement. A while ago Tyler and I made a new goal for our blog. We had already gotten an average of 100 views per day for a single month, so now we wanted to get 100 views per day for the entire year. Well, last night, we made it to 100. We initially believed that this would be an extremely difficult goal to achieve. It wasn’t. It happened much sooner than we had imagined.
So, I would like to thank all our readers, likers, followers, commenters, etc. for coming to our blog. You guys are awesome. I don’t know what our next goal is yet…but I have an idea. As always, however, I will not say what it is because I don’t want to jinx it. 🙂
That is all.
Thanks for reading and Happy Mining!
